Julia Craik
In 2007, Julia Craik drove forward a project to install solar power on The Premises Studio, a recording studio in London, thought to be a world first. The 3.7kWp system on the roof of the studio is made up of 18 Sanyo 210 PV modules. Julia’s recording studio is one of the most well regarded, and popular in the UK, with musicians from Courtney Pine to Amy Winehouse working there. She is engaging with well-known musicians, and spreading the message about the importance of solar power. But Julia has not stopped there. She has been heavily supportive of the introduction of a FIT for the UK, helping to campaign through the help of musicians such as Lily Allen, popularizing solar and bringing it into the mainstream press. She has recently recruited the Klaxons to support the campaign in the UK. She is able to add value to campaigns with her links in the music industry. Raising the profile of solar in the popular press is invaluable if the technology is to become mainstream. On the lobbying front she is working with Solarcentury and the REA in her spare time. Julia is an exceptional communicator about solar as well as an exceptional manager. She is a true example of a pioneer in solar communications. |
