Making Organic Batteries in Malaysia

This video is part of our Intel ISEF series

Dzarul Dol Malek travels by plane during the school year to study at a boarding school on the other side of Malaysia. However, even while in school he’s always thinking of ways to help his family’s sugar cane farm back home. They have minimal access to electricity, so Dzarul has invented a battery which works on the same principles as a cow’s digestive system and uses materials that can be found around his farm.  This is the story of where his innovative idea was born.
